THE CHOIRBOYS
New Album: "EVOLVER"
Release Date: May 17th 2004
'Evolver' is a collection of three-chord songs, inspired
by the philosophy of 'Keep It Simple Stupid'. We took the
Beatles album Revolver and sacked the big 'R' to end up with
'Evolver'. Not content to leave it there, every song in
this collection is not by accident carrying the title of a
Beatles classic. Over the course of the last few months, Choirboys
have been road-testing many of these gems to a great live
response.
With the release of "Evolver" comes a reinvention
of Choirboys. Their sixth studio album in a career
that has spanned 20 years, they could not be accused of being
prolific but always focusing on high quality work. "We
have plans for a live album further down the line, as well
as another studio album next year," says Mark Gable,
lead vocalist and one of the bands founding members. "We
love doing this, always have, always will!"
In many ways, this album is a return to the very early days
of the band's first self-titled album. Raw and simplistic
with a depth and texture that constantly reveals itself, this
is an album that inspires. It's what Choirboys do best,
powerful pub-rock with haunting pop melodies and a lyric reflective
of urban life in Australia.
Renowned for energetic live performances, plans are now underway
for an extensive 12-month tour taking in all capital cities
and most regional areas.
The irony of the album title "Evolver" is
that the band has come full circle, returning to their rock
'n' roll roots in explosive form. This is Paradise!

In a post script to the forth-coming album...
The 2002 Johnny Dennis Song Writing Contest, run in conjunction
with APRA and Perpetual Trustees, saw the Mark Gable
and Link composition, "The Dog Song"
finish as runner-up. With more than 1000 songs vying for top
honours, receiving the "highly commended award"
is confirmation of the song-writing duos perennial talent
and hard work. Watch out for this song on the upcoming Choirboys
album, 'Evolver'
